WOW Agency launches in Dubai following Emirates ‘Globalista’ win

The makers of Emirates’ ‘Be there’ social media campaign have founded a video and sensory experience agency in Dubai.

Gilles Vidal and Marilor Requet have set up WOW agency in Dubai’s Silicon Oasis after re-locating from Paris to oversee the major project in May.

The video series follows seven glamorous Emirates employees known as ‘globalistas’ as they travel around the world over a six-month period.

Working alongside Emirates’ partners National Geographic Channel, the duo is responsible for the storyboarding, direction, training, editing and post-production of a total of 90 videos, which have been distributed across the world.

To date there have been 40 million views of these videos with the current Dubai-themed video reaching 1.6 million views in six days. WOW has also produced projects for Emirates SkyCargo, Airbus and Design Days Dubai.

Vidal, associate director, said: “Video is still the most effective way to communicate and elicit a response… Our added value comes from our diverse creative and technical backgrounds, including art, fashion, music and new audio-visual technology. This allows us to bring something unique to our projects. We came to the United Arab Emirates knowing there would be opportunity to express our creativity and realize ambitious projects.”

Requet, associate director who has expertise in video projection, added: “There is a tremendous opportunity in the UAE to inspire innovation through creative use of technology. Dubai is a visionary and futuristic place that is ever evolving. It seemed obvious to move here to develop sensory applications that appeal to new ways of seeing, feeling and communicating.”

The company, which operated in Paris under the name Invioo, also specialises in interactive holograms, naked eye 3d and projection mapping. Recently WOW created the longest 4D video mapping for the opening of Souk Waqif Boutique Hotel in Doha, Qatar.

The seven globalistas for Emirates’ ‘Be there’ campaign were selected through a talent show-style competition held for airline staff. The first adventurer was Rahed Ammoura, a cabin crew training specialist, who tested his limits on the island of Bali.
