Two silvers but no golds during Cannes’ third awards night

It was a relatively disappointing evening on the Promenade de la Croisette last night, with only two silvers and two bronzes won by regional agencies.

Winners in the press, design, radio and cyber categories took centre stage in Cannes, but there were only two Middle East winners in press (a traditionally strong category for the region) and no winners in radio, despite a handful of shortlists. Y&R Dubai won press silver for its spring/summer sale work for Harvey Nichols, while Leo Burnett Dubai picked up its first award of the festival – a bronze for Fox International Channels Middle East.

The other two winners on the night came courtesy of a cyber silver for Memac Ogilvy Dubai’s ‘The smallest Ikea store in the world’, and a design bronze for DDB Dubai’s ‘Gift a life’ for the Committee of Organ Donation in Lebanon.

The film shortlist will be announced this afternoon, with the titanium and integrated, film craft and branded content and entertainment shortlists released on Friday morning.
