MEC CEO Mohan Nambiar quits

WPP’s Mohan Nambiar has resigned as CEO of MEC after 23 years.

Nambiar has been with the media agency since its inception  in 1993.

In a statement released by WPP, the global media giant said: “It’s with great sadness that we confirm that Mohan Nambiar, MEC and WPP veteran for 23 years, has decided to leave the company.

“We’re so proud of everything Mohan has helped us to accomplish. He’s enjoyed a long and incredibly successful tenure that saw us expand our offices across the Middle East and North Africa and maintain our position as one of the top media agencies in the region.

Mohan’s passion for MEC and his energy for the company has truly built a thriving culture, and his commitment to his people and ensuring that they grow and flourish has been a fundamental part of his leadership here at MEC and will be sorely missed.

“We wish him and his family all the very best for the future. We’ll be appointing a successor soon, and will make that announcement in due course. At this point of time, a successor has not been named and the announcement will be made in due course.”

His departure comes nearly a year after the resignation of fellow WPP veteran Samir Ayoub, who quit as Mindshare CEO after 17 years.

Ahead of appointing a successor, MEC MENA will be overseen by Alastair Aird, global COO and CEO EMEA of MEC and Filip Jabbour, CEO of GroupM MENA.

They will be helping support general manager Marc Ghosn, the agency said.
