Leo Burnett Dubai wins coveted Black Cube

Leo Burnett Dubai has been named agency of the year and awarded a rare Black Cube at the ADC Annual Awards in the US.

The agency’s ‘Two for one tickets’ campaign for du, which also picked up two golds and two silvers, ensured Leo Burnett Dubai made regional history by becoming the first agency from the region to win the coveted best in show accolade. The Black Cube is only awarded to entries in the design, digital and advertising categories and is awarded at the discretion of a unanimous jury. As such, the Black Cube is not awarded every year.

Leo Burnett Worldwide also picked up network of the year, crowning a memorable night for the agency at the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center in Miami Beach.

The du campaign was directed by Ali Ali and Maged Nassar, with Dejavu the production house.

“ADC has considered the art of storytelling, the direction and the copywriting done on this campaign as the best in the world bar none,” said Bechara Mouzannar, chief creative officer at Leo Burnett MENA. “This means that this campaign has set new standards in storytelling and in craft in the world. These wins and records constitute a premiere for a commercial brand from the UAE, and from the Middle East. It is also a premiere for an agency from the region, it is also a premiere for film directors from the Arab world.

“In total partnership and in full intelligence with our client du and with the team at Leo Burnett Dubai, the director Ali Ali and his co-director Maged Nassar have developed an outstanding art of storytelling and craft, with a twist of humour, that is now topping the winners list at one of the six top shows in the world. We all feel humbled by the results.”

The Art Directors Club Annual Awards of Art + Craft in Advertising and Design is the oldest continuous running industry award show in the world.
