Kharma takes on ECD role at Drive Dentsu

Drive Dentsu has appointed Hisham Kharma as its new executive creative director for the UAE following the departure of Christian Khoury.

Kharma will be based in the network’s Dubai office, although his creative remit will also cover Drive Dentsu’s operations in Abu Dhabi. Khoury left the agency in July after completing just over six months in the role.

Prior to joining Drive Dentsu, Kharma was freelancing for agencies in Cairo. He is also a music producer and social entrepreneur and is the founder of iWasinTahrir.com, a virtual ‘Million Man March’ for Egypt’s revolution.

Speaking of Kharma’s appointment, Christian Djermakian, Drive Denstu’s chief creative officer, said the agency was looking for a particular type of creative talent. “Talent that evolves with the stream, invents, innovates and generates new ideas that truly propel brands and agencies ahead of the trends,” said Djermakian. “Our quest in finding this rare breed of creative never ends. And just recently, this symbiosis of creative talent took form with the addition of Hisham Kharma.”

Denstu was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. In 2005 it joined forces with Drive, which was founded in Jeddah in 1997. It has offices across the region, including Riyadh, Jeddah and Beirut.
