Gunn Report 2014: UAE rises to number 13

Ali Ali is 10th most awarded director; Memac Ogilcy Dubai 22nd most awarded agency.

The Gunn Report has placed UAE as the 13th most awarded country in 2014, up from the 17th spot it took a year ago. Also making it to the top 25 from the MENA region is Turkey, which enters the list at number 25.

Ali Ali emerged on the list of most awarded directors, entering it at number 10.

Memac Ogilvy Dubai ranked 22nd among most awarded agency in the world, according to the report.

Among the most awarded campaigns listed under the ‘All Guns Blazing’ list, the agency’s campaign for UN Women ‘The Autocomplete Truth’ ranked 13 globally.

The agency’s work also put UN Women at number 21 in the rankings of most awarded advertisers globally.

Film 

Leo Burnett Dubai’s work for du Tuesdays ‘Too Complicated/Too Depressed & campaign’ was the lone listing from the MENA region on the list of most awarded film commercials and campaigns, at rank 29.

Print / OOH work

Also from the region on the Gunn Report list for most awarded print / OOH campaign globally is Leo Burnett Beirut’s campaign for Virgin Radio ‘MJ/The Police/Nirvana’, at number 28.

Y&R Dubai’s work for Wox Footwear ‘Tart/Clown/Blonde’ ranks 45 on this list, while Impact BBDO’s work on Sadafco Saudia Milk ‘Gymnastic/Karate/Ballet’ follows at number 48.

The Gunn Report 2014’s guest editor was Malcolm Poynton, recently appointed global chief creative officer, Cheil Worldwide.
