Egypt puts in solid film shortlist performance

Two Egyptian agencies and one from the UAE have been shortlisted in the film category at the Cannes Lions festival.

Cairo-based Advantage Marketing & Advertising and Elephant Cairo have been nominated for their ‘Kitchen’, ‘Office‘ and ‘Hospital’ commercials for Panda.

Also shortlisted is Leo Burnet Cairo, which picks up a nomination for its ‘Mother of all Foreign Films’ series of commercials – TVCs that won the agency the film grand prix at this year’s Dubai Lynx. The third shortlisted piece of work is for Impact BBDO and its ‘Emirates Take-off’ TVC for Mercedes-Benz. A total of 359 pieces of work from around the world have made the cut.

In the film craft shortlist, TBWA/Raad and Leo Burnett Cairo have been nominated for Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority’s ‘Be Still’ (see film above) and ‘The Mother of all Foreign Films’ respectively.

No entries from the region were shortlisted in the Titanium/integrated category.  The winners of the three shortlists will be announced on Sunday.
