Do Epic Sh*t and Free Turn announce strategic partnership to bring brand-funded entertainment to the Middle East

The partnership will support brands looking to create entertainment to reach audiences regionally and worldwide, as well as co-producing original programming for the global market.

Do Epic Sh*t, the boutique creative and content agency founded by executive creative director Ramzi Moutran, headquartered in Dubai has announced a strategic partnership with Los Angeles and London-based entertainment company, Free Turn.

Do Epic’s creative prowess in creating culture-led ideas for brands such as Uber and Timberland will be coupled with Free Turn’s award-winning entertainment and distribution expertise to supercharge the growth of branded entertainment across the region. The partnership launches with entertainment-led projects for some of Do Epic’s existing clients and an original documentary series to be produced in the region.

Free Turn was founded by BAFTA award-winning director Nick Hamm and Jon Hamm, a former chief creative officer at WPP and IPG. Recent projects include White Lines, Netflix’s 2020 breakout summer hit (directed by Nick Hamm), and World’s Fastest Gamer (directed by Free Turn Chief Creative Officer, Jel Groman). Free Turn recently announced their plans to develop several global SVOD and AVOD channels.

The partnership will provide an unrivalled branded entertainment offering to brands, including original programming, movies, live stream commerce and immersive audio experiences as well as supporting global clients looking for regional production or distribution. Together, Do Epic Sh*t and Free Turn will also explore new distribution channels and funding opportunities for entertainment in the region as the entertainment landscape continues to transform.

Jon Hamm, Free Turn CEO, says: “Global audiences are hungry for quality entertainment that connects with culture; streamers and broadcasters, such as Netflix, are investing in content from the region for their global platform; and MENA alone is projected to have over 27million SVOD subscriptions by 2025. The alignment of these trends creates an amazing opportunity for brands in the Middle East to harness the power of entertainment.”

He added “Free Turn and Do Epic have a shared creative vision, both of our businesses work with some of the world’s leading brands to deliver game-changing ideas and we are looking forward to creating and producing some truly innovative and epic shows with Ramzi and his team.”
