DABO & CO win flydubai PR account

Low-cost airline flydubai has appointed DABO & Co to handle its public relations brief.

The appointment of the Dubai-based agency, which recently underwent a re-brand, means that Polaris, the incumbent agency for the past two years, will no longer be involved on the account.

The initial pitch invitation was sent out to 15 agencies. From this group a shortlist of eight agencies was made and then whittled down to three finalists following a second round of deliberations. The other two finalist agencies are not known.

Heather Astbury, flydubai’s PR manager, said that the final decision had been difficult as the standard of all proposals submitted was extremely high. Commenting on DABO & Co, she said: “We were really impressed with their creativity and their enthusiasm.”

A pitch for flydubai’s creative account is still ongoing. The airline operates from Dubai International Airport and currently flies to 33 destinations. It was founded in March 2008 by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman of Emirates.
