Campaign’s Digital Faces to Watch 2020 – Aliasgar Gulshan, Senior account executive, Hill+Knowlton Strategies

Age: 25

Michael Korjen, head of technology practice, MENA, Hill+Knowlton Strategies: Aliasgar joined H+K in 2018 and from the first candidate interview we saw great potential in him. With maturity beyond his years, Aliasgar won the trust of his clients and colleagues to hold positions of leadership higher than his title gives him credit for. Whether that is leading new business proposals, managing highly complex and large accounts or mentoring teams on the latest trends in digital, Aliasgar has proven he is a rising star of our industry.

Career highlights

I joined H+K in Dubai two years ago, working primarily in the Technology practice on some of their key consumer technology accounts I’ve had the opportunity to set my foot into everything from launching the greatest smartphones to building campaigns for the region’s best games. This agency has allowed me to grow in every aspect, from thinking only social media for clients, to creating fully fledged integrated campaigns that cover all aspects of communications including PR, digital, offline activations and large-scale events.

Prior to joining H+K, I was practising my digital marketing skills at a boutique PR agency in Dubai for two years. I was in charge of strategy development, content creation and design for various lifestyle, fashion and hospitality brands. Some of these brands include MERAAS holdings, Atlantis The Palm, TAJ Hotels Group and MSGM.

Guiding principles

Here are my top 4 principles that I live by everyday:

#1 Never stop learning because life never stops teaching.

#2 Be obsessed with your clients if you want to do great work.

#3 If you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together.

#4 Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.

Dream job

I love creating content, whether it’s for my clients or for myself. To me, learning and practising in digital media and then using that experience to help make a real difference in the community and impact people’s lives in a positive way is really empowering and fun. My dream job is a job that lets me be unapologetically creative and collaborate with people who are excited about creating unique and impactful content.

Side hustle

My side focus for the past two years has been completing my Master’s in Digital Marketing. I always knew that I wanted to learn more in this field and pursue a higher degree after my bachelor’s. It’s also helped me become a pro at time management – to be fair, you don’t really have a choice when you’ve got a 10,000-word research paper, a new client proposal and a number of existing accounts to manage, all at the same time.
