Amy Roko and Deezer break new ground with Saudi Today, Deezer’s first original podcast for the Kingdom

The launch of Deezer first original podcast for the Kingdom. Saudi Today is a fresh collaboration with Saudi writer, actor and artist Amy Roko, and it is streaming now on Deezer!

The five-episode Arabic podcast series is packed with cultural insights and commentary on comedy, film, music, digital content and tourism. In each episode, you have Amy chatting with a trailblazer from the Saudi cultural scene. Through freewheeling and honest conversations, you get to know more about their personal journeys, creative challenges, and insights on all that’s happening in the Kingdom.

Fearless, funny and smart, Amy loves smashing stereotypes. After ruling Vine and Instagram, she is now breaking new ground with Saudi Today. Amy explains: “We are always being asked about living and working in Saudi Arabia. Now you can hear it straight from the people who are in the thick of the action. Podcasts are an exciting medium to share our experiences and perspectives as Saudi creatives. And Saudi Today also shines a light on all the amazing things happening in my country.”

“Our listeners want more local content, and we heard them! With Saudi Today, you can get closer to some incredibly talented people, unplugged and real as they sit down to chat with the super-talented Amy Roko. If you ever wondered what the new Saudi Arabia sounds like, tune in. You’ll be entertained, informed and wowed by the breadth and diversity of the Kingdom’s talent.” says Tarek Mounir, Deezer MENAT CEO.

Guests on Saudi Today are influential creatives from different walks of life. They include comedian Ibraheem Khairallah, content creator Omar Hussein, travel journalist Nara Alomayri, filmmaker Fatima Albanawi, and hip hop artist Lil Eazy.

Amy’s fresh perspectives are in sync with the new cultural shift in the Kingdom. Culture is a way of life and an engine for economic growth. Culture is also a part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious national transformation. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 states that culture is “indispensable to our quality of life” and notes that Saudi Arabia must increase both the quality and quantity of its cultural activities. With Saudi Today, Deezer is now the platform voicing the dreams and aspirations of the Kingdom.
