Alfa back at Leo Burnett as Y&R resigns brief

Leo Burnett Beirut has been reunited with one of its former clients after Y&R resigned the Alfa account in Lebanon.

Y&R had been awarded the mobile phone operator’s business in July last year following a competitive pitch, but has since resigned the account for unknown reasons after less than seven months with the Beirut-based telco. The agency confirmed the move, but declined to comment any further. Alfa, which is managed by Orascom, has since returned to Leo Burnett.

Orascom took over control of Alfa from Fal Dete Telecommunication in February 2009, leading to the moving of the account to Leo Burnett from Intermarkets in April that year. Leo Burnett went on to create work that won two gold awards for media, a silver in TV, and a silver in radio at last year’s Dubai Lynx awards. Its ‘Hijacked’ radio campaign for Alfa was shortlisted at last year’s Cannes Lions festival.
