ADMC to launch print edition of National Geographic in Arabic

Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) and National Geographic have announced a partnership to publish the first Arabic-language print edition of National Geographic magazine. The new monthly title will be called National Geographic Al Arabiya and the first edition will be expected to launch on newsstands on 1 October.

The Arabic language title will provide readers in the region more access to National Geographic and its features on geography, archaeology and natural science, as well as its striking images of natural beauty, taken around the world. Complementing the global content, ADMC say that more than 20 per cent of each issue will be generated locally, with unique features of particular relevance to regional readers. National Geographic Channels International and ADMC also broadcast the National Geographic Channel in Arabic across the Middle East.

National Geographic Al Arabiya is a natural extension of our existing partnership with National Geographic,” said Edward Borgerding, CEO of ADMC. “Through our joint television channel National Geographic Abu Dhabi, and a production partnership with our film subsidiary Imagenation Abu Dhabi, ADMC and National Geographic are working together to bring smart, informative entertainment to audiences across the region.”

The new Arabic-language edition of National Geographic magazine will bring the number of local language editions of the magazine to 33. Published in English since 1888, the magazine is the official journal of the National Geographic Society and is read by more than 38 million people each month.

Formed in 2006, Abu Dhabi Media Company is based in Abu Dhabi and has interests including free and pay-per-view TV, radio, publishing, digital media, games, feature films and music.
