Adam Young pens score for Burj Al Arab

The Jumeirah Group has teamed up with Adam Young, the founder of electronic music project Owl City, to create an original score for the new Burj Al Arab video ‘Leave the Ordinary Behind’.

Minnesota-based Owl City is best known for the song Fireflies, which was a global hit when it was released in 2009 and currently has 60 million hits on YouTube. The project’s debut album, Ocean Eye, also featured an image of the Burj Al Arab on its cover.

The 60-second spot, created by Alchemy Films and boutique agency Lighthouse, was originally released in May but has been re-edited with the new soundtrack in order to gain increased online exposure. Iain Cooper, creative director at Dubai-based Lighthouse, said: “Adam’s dreamy style and his feelings for the hotel made him the ideal candidate to create the score for the film.”

The ad shows a man diving off the top of the 321m high hotel, offering a unique view of Jumeirah’s flagship property and the Dubai skyline. The film is directed by London-based Dave Ward.
