Abu Dhabi Media rolls out further structural changes

Abu Dhabi Media is making a string of structural and personnel changes as it seeks to further streamline its operations.

The group, which has undergone significant restructuring and senior managerial changes during the course of the past two years, has formed Digital Media Services (DMS) to focus on “extending the organisation’s offerings in the digital space and pursue the creation of dynamic digital content”. DMS will position ADM as a “regional leader in digital media, as well as focus on supporting Arabic content creation and distribution in the region”.

The creation of the division could cause confusion, however, as the Choueiri Group already has a company with the same name.

Abdul Hadi Al Sheikh, the CEO of LIVE, ADM’s outdoor production and broadcasting company, has been appointed executive director of DMS, while Mohamed bin Taliah has been named the group’s chief information security officer. Further appointments have been made, including that of Waleed Saeed Al Awadhi, who has been named executive director of marketing and communications.

Last June ADM said it was closing its gaming unit Karkadann Games and its out-of-home arm Al Barq as part of the next phase of its ongoing strategic review. The move followed a sustained period of change at the group, including the appointment of its third CEO in 13 months, with Malcolm Wall stepping down for Ayman Safadi in March last year. That news followed the earlier decision to change the company’s focus and put public service at the heart of its offering.

“We need to ensure that Abu Dhabi Media’s operating model, and its senior team, equips the company with the agility it requires to meet the demands of a continuously-evolving media sector. These changes are in line with best practice, and will better help ADM enjoy continued success,” said Safadi of the new changes.
