Campaign’s Digital Faces to Watch 2020 – Nassir Etout, Senior account manager, Apco Worldwide

Age: 28

Muhannad Al Badri, managing director, Apco Abu Dhabi: Nassir joined Apco Worldwide as an intern in 2016, where he has begun his journey by assisting on a variety of APCO clients, specifically in the sustainability, technology, hospitality, education and real estate sectors. Since Nassir has joined Apco Worldwide, his most notable achievements were the immense digital support he has had during Masdar’s Solar Impulse landing, one of the UAE’s most crowning sustainability achievements. Before the official merger of Khalifa University, he handled Masdar Institute’s (a small sized university’s) account and topped huge universities in terms of engagement (33 per cent) and followers (thousands) organically, followed by winning a global pitch competition at Apco for the most creative idea and his immense growth from pure social media to a full-fledged account manager on the UAEREP account. Now he is able to cope in creating communication strategies, handling client requests, writing press releases, policies, website content, and making communication plans and, to top it all off, creating new biz pitches for new business.

Career highlights

I began my journey in Apco Worldwide as an intern, and today I stand proud to have been given the right guidance by my peers to becoming a Senior Account Manager. My biggest highlight was keeping Khalifa University as a client for Apco throughout the merger, as it is a prolonged achievement, recognised for consistency and overall performance. Working on several different clients (Masdar, Masdar Institute, UAEREP) in the niche sustainability sector yet trending multiple times in the UAE (a hugely competitive social media presence), especially during ADSW/WFES. Yet, winning a global competition for most creative idea between so many experts in the field in Apco will always be my most memorable moment as it drives me every day, it is engraved in my head and that is why I know for a fact that the sky is the limit through hard work and grit.

My passion is song writing, as it is a way to infuse happiness in people or send messages across in an artistic yet meaningful method. It is inextricably linked with my career as a vital part of what I do is content creation. I got into writing lyrics after winning a spelling bee as a kid.
