Campaign’s PR Faces to Watch 2020 – Sara Al Qarout, Senior account executive, Apco Dubai
Age: 23
Ali Yaseen, account director, Apco Worldwide: Sara was a driving force for the huge success of our work with the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs in Kuwait. The campaigns we developed won multiple awards from MEPRA and PRCA Digital. Despite her young age, Sara was the main lead on the account, and she managed the client relationship and guided the work and the collaboration with our back office. Her proactivity is what got her to work on this account. She voluntarily took the decision to move to Kuwait for three months to lead on this account. Sara managed to gain the trust of the client and got multiple paid extensions to develop follow up campaigns.
Career highlights
After graduating at the age of 20 with bachelor’s degree in mass communication, I started my career at Apco as an intern. Today, I’m very grateful for the impactful work I’ve done with clients such as UNDP and Kuwait’s Public Authority for Disabled Affairs on their nationwide Qodraty campaign to drive more inclusion for people with disabilities. I’ve also worked on projects with UNDP and Women Research and Studies Center to further women’s empowerment in Kuwait. The projects won two prestigious awards: MEPRA for Best Campaign in Kuwait and PRCA MENA for Best PR Campaign – Game Changer.
Guiding principles
My father taught me to never give up and always hold on to what you’re passionate about. Whatever the opportunity, give it everything you’ve got.
Dream job
My dream job is to work for a social impact organization that is dedicated to driving change and creating positive outcomes in society, such as UNICEF, WFP or WHO.
Side hustle
A few years ago, I started a small project with my university peers to help students in my home country (Palestine) enter university, by supporting them with funds. My passion for education is what motivated me and is what’s driving me to continue working on it till today.
