DDB Dubai appoints Iris Minnema as managing director

DDB Dubai has announced the appointment of Iris Minnema as managing director. In her new role she will lead the Dubai office and report to Hubert Boulos, the agency’s Middle East CEO.

In a statement, the agency said: “Over the past four years DDB Dubai has grown substantially, mostly thanks to new business wins originating locally and regionally. Nonetheless the organisation cannot rest on its laurels and what got us here will not get us where we want to be over the next four years, especially in light of a very difficult regional economic context.”

Minnema has 17 years of experience in the advertising industry. Ten of those years were spent with DDB Amsterdam and DDB Dubai. She has been a business director at DDB Dubai for the past four years, and
in charge of some of the agencies top clients such as McDonald’s, Danone, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Bollywood Parks Dubai and Johnson & Johnson.

The agency said: “On top of managing such a blue chip portfolio, she was instrumental in winning most of the clients in her portfolio. Indeed all of Iris’ top clients have been won locally with the exception of Johnson & Johnson which is a global account.”

Boulos said: “Iris’ contribution in helping me successfully lead the agency over the past four years, has been tremendous and invaluable. The agency would not be the same without Iris. I am confident she is the right person to take us to the next level, which by the way is not optional.”

Minnema said: “I’m very excited to take on this new role within DDB Dubai. It’s a tough market out there, but we have great talents that are eager to show what else they can do. It’s all about the people, pushing the thinking further, being smart in times that are hard. I trust that we can hold on to the positive changes of the last couple of years and look forward to showing what’s next from DDB Dubai.”
