6 Feet Apart: Coming Together by Staying Separate

On a typically lazy Saturday morning just a couple of weeks ago, Team Red Dot was up and ready by 9am. The reason? Just two days prior, Raksha Khimji, our Managing Director, had announced that the company would be taking preventative measures against Covid-19 and shift to working from home, and that they would be spending the weekend delivering work systems and files to those who needed it. And so, we spent our weekend dusting off our home desks, plugging in wires, and praying to the gods of productivity.

It’s been two weeks since then, and we are proud to report that the mobilization efforts have been a success. The process wasn’t easy – and we must confess that we spent more time than we’d like to admit trying to get Zoom to work, but knowing that the safety and wellbeing of our team is valued and protected made all the difference. We managed to pull off the not-so small feat of converting 100% of our meetings – including client meetings – from face-to-face to virtual ones. What we can tell you so far is that somebody in the agency may or may not own Hello Kitty pajamas. But on a more serious note, we are incredibly pleased to have been able to adjust to a completely new way of working in such a short period of time – the way that our people have collaborated has been a great reminder of why we’re named Team Red Dot.

We are proud of our proactive efforts when it comes to practicing social distancing and getting on the WFH bandwagon; we’ve always believed in leading by example and felt it was our civic duty to take a responsible action.

We know that over the next few months, we as an independent agency are going to face some difficult times, but we have faith in our community of clients, collaborators, and most importantly, in ourselves. After all, basic social instinct dictates our desire to come together as a community to foster love and support.

If we could leave you with one thought it would be – this too shall pass, and in the meantime, try to avoid making any permanent decisions in the face of a temporary crisis, no matter how overwhelming things may feel.

So, let’s ungroup to regroup, and come back, as we like to say, #BetterThanYesterday.
